About This Service
When a client operates across multiple countries or languages, even small technical mistakes — a single misconfigured hreflang tag, incorrect canonical handling between regional versions, or missing x-default tags — can send the wrong version of their site to the wrong audience and create duplicate content issues that tank rankings across every market.
International SEO is one of the most technical specialisms in search — and one of the most frequently implemented incorrectly. We handle the full technical setup: site architecture review, hreflang strategy and implementation, geo-targeting configuration, and ongoing validation — all delivered white-labeled under your agency brand.
The benefits of implementing International SEO correctly are significant. It attracts qualified traffic from new regions, boosts global brand visibility, and drives more conversions by reaching users in their preferred language. Well-executed International SEO positions your client's brand as a credible global player and opens doors to untapped markets whether they are expanding to Europe, Asia, or the Americas.

Common Questions
Almost certainly yes. Hreflang implementation errors are extremely common even on well-maintained sites — missing x-default tags, non-reciprocal tag relationships, incorrect language codes, and canonical conflicts between regional versions are among the most frequent issues we find during audits. An incorrect international setup can cause the wrong version of the site to appear in the wrong country, or create duplicate content issues that suppress rankings across all markets simultaneously. We audit the existing implementation first and fix what's broken.
ccTLDs (e.g. client.co.uk), subdomains (e.g. uk.client.com), and subfolders (e.g. client.com/uk/) each have different technical implications, authority signals, and management complexity. The right choice depends on the client's budget, how separate the regional content is, and how much domain authority they have to distribute. We assess this as part of every international SEO project and make a clear recommendation with rationale — not a one-size-fits-all answer.
Same-language multi-region targeting is technically more complex than different-language targeting. Hreflang still applies but needs to be implemented with precise region codes (en-US, en-GB, en-AU) rather than just language codes. The content also needs meaningful regional differentiation to avoid duplicate content issues — identical pages with only hreflang tags pointing to each other won't resolve the problem on their own. We address both the technical implementation and provide content differentiation recommendations as part of the project.
Rarely. In most cases international SEO can be implemented on the existing site structure, though some architectural improvements may be recommended. Where a significant restructure is the best long-term approach — such as moving from subfolders to ccTLDs — we present that as a recommendation with a clear rationale and migration plan, rather than a requirement to proceed. We work within whatever the client has in place and improve it.
We need access to the client's CMS or codebase to implement hreflang tags (or their XML sitemap if implementing via sitemap), and editor access to Google Search Console to configure geo-targeting settings. All access is arranged through your agency — we never contact the client directly. The full implementation is documented in a white-labeled handover report so your agency has a complete record of everything that was implemented and why.
